The obvious differences between art and science, while plentiful, hide the fact that both are driven by the same broad goal to search the boundaries of common sense. The differences may lie in the motivations and the applications of the research, but they quickly fade in a fostering shared creativity.
The resonances between art and science are at the center of what the Medical Image Analysis Center (MIAC AG) proposes for its first art-science project in Basel, June 13-16, 2018. During Art | Basel, MIAC AG opens Le sas for a serendipity experience of these resonances: Shades off art and science. These resonances deal both with feeling and understanding, with knowing and sharing, with motion and emotion. By integrating art and science as an experimental, multidisciplinary laboratory, Shades off art and science makes use of some of the keys each discipline brings to reveal, here in Basel, the close link we experience with the living.
MIAC AG hopes that this first initiative in its new location will be one of a series of cultural, artistic, and scientific discussions at the heart of the city.
